Introduction

The Regional Office of Employees' Provident Fund Organisation in the North East was set up in July,1958 with Head Quarter at Shillong, the then capital of undivided Assam for implementation of the EPF & MP Act,1952 in all the seven states of N.E. Region viz. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The Regional Office was subsequently shifted from Shillong to Guwahati and was made functional from July,1978, leaving behind Sub-Regional Office at Shillong. The N.E. Region is presently having three Sub-Regional Office at Shillong, Agartala and Tinsukia. In the Region there are 5 inspectorates and 4 service centres. The Sub Zonal Training Institute of Zonal Training Institute is also functioning at Shillong.

Regional Office, Guwahati

The Regional Office, Guwahati has the administrative control of all the SROs, Inspectorates, Service Centres of NER. However for the implementation of the Act and Schemes, the jurisdiction of RO spans over the state of Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh except Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Golaghat and Tinsukia Districts of Assam and Lohit, Changlang, Dibang Valley and Tirap districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Regional Office, Guwahati is functioning from its own building.

Sub-Regional Offices

Shillong: After shifting of Regional Office from Shillong on July,1978, the Sub-Regional Office, Shillong started functioning from July,1978. The Sub-Regional Office, Shillong is having jurisdiction over the States of Meghalaya and Mizoram.

Agartala: The Office started functioning from May,1982. The service area of this office is whole of Tripura State. SRO,Agartala is functioning from its own building.

Tinsukia: The Sub-Regional Office, Tinsukia was opened in December,1994 to take the service to the door step of subscribers in the districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Jorhat and Golaghat of Assam and district of Lohit, Changlang,Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley and Tirap of Arunachal Pradesh.
